Still holds up today, still cool, I still really want to autocross one, still a far superior hybrid system to the Prius or the Kia whateverthefuck hybrid I drove.
Also gloss white plastic accents are cool, but capactive buttons are not :(

How can the Volt have aged well when it’s only a few years old? Lol
![]() 05/02/2016 at 11:18 |

Only from the B pillar forward. The rear half of godawful

Aged well? You can still buy them brand new.

The volt is...that old.

The Volt gets a lot of hate that is undeserved IMO. I’ve yet to meet or speak to a Volt owner who didn’t love it.

I am actually tempted to buy a rather high-ish mileage Volt/Ampera.

The Ampera is so much better looking. If I ever got a Volt you bet your ass I’d be swapping bumpers.

I’ve yet to speak to a Volt owner.

It’s been out longer than most people think, probably because they’re still fairly uncommon.

Why not an ELR?
![]() 05/02/2016 at 11:26 |

Yes, but it’s a six year old design based on a nine year old concept and it still manages to look pretty fresh.

Came out in 2010, based on a concept from 2007 and it still looks fresh. That’s impressive.

Always reminds me of this but I like it. The Opel Zafira Tourer got the same face

There are approx. 3-7 ELRs in Germany. Maybe even in Europe. Cadillac Europe’s website states that the car will be available but I don’t believe it.

It looks nothing like the concept though.

As a guy who drives a car that's 20 years old. 3 years old still seems new to me.

Euro.

The general shape is different but it apes most of its styling cues from the concept.
![]() 05/02/2016 at 11:46 |

The shape is the most important thing. A ‘99 Corolla carrying most of the styling cues from an E-Type Jag still doesn’t look anything like an E-Type Jag.

There were two concepts. GM admitted that the first was more of a “let’s see what people think of our idea” rather than a representation of what to expect for the finished product. :)

Series hybrid is best hybrid. :)

There are a couple of (former?) Oppos who have/had/spouses have Volts. I don’t remember who they are, but all spoke highly of it. It’s very good at it’s intended purpose.
![]() 05/02/2016 at 11:58 |

This isn’t about it looking identical to the concept, the styling cues are what makes a car look dated or not. The styling cues (lights, grille, etc) taken from the concept and put on the production car 10 years ago still hold up today, which is impressive.

I really really want one...but my office has no external power (or windows that open in which to run a cord) :(
![]() 05/02/2016 at 12:12 |

Doing that usually only results in commoners bitching about how the end result doesn’t look like the first concept. Either keep shit concept, or be Rolls Royce and put it into production as is.

Oh no doubt. My favourite automaker had like 10 bullshit concepts before they got to the ones that actually resembled what the real deal looks like.

This is timely.

Definitely too soon to call because normally cars are 20+ years old when they are talked about in the sense of their designs aging poorly or well. But that’s usually to determine if the design is “timeless”.
I think you are making a slightly different point that, yes, the car is still offered new, but the design is actually from before the recession and still looks just as modern as brand new models. I don’t know if aging is the right term but I don’t know what else to call it either... maturing?
I agree with you, though. They always look nice when I see them, which is rare, and I think that is why they still look new. They aren’t very common. I see 100 Corolla’s for every 1 Volt. It's a shame.
